Meet Mariela
WHO
I’ve been learning yoga since I was a kid and randomly found a book of asanas. I’ve taught and taken classes all over the world, completing my initial trainings in Australia and Indonesia. As a med school drop-out, I’ve always had a passion for anatomy and physiology, and I love integrating that knowledge into my classes. I am a blend of all the teachers and students I interacted with in the over 50 countries I’ve visited, and I keep them all in mind every time I roll out a mat.
WHAT
Yin is a lifestyle for me at this point: a calm, curious, patient, introspective experience. My classes are always different, inspired by who shows up.
My Slow Flows are creative sequences that keep the student present and in the moment, letting go of what’s next. Patient but powerful, I make it up as we go. Every class is a one-of-a-kind, never to be repeated experience, because that’s who we are when we show up.
My 20/20/20 classes are fun and a little bit of everything. Make sure to check the expectation at the door, and come in with an open mind and heart.
WHY
Yoga is a universal language: we get to connect from a place of presence, vulnerability, and curiosity. During my travels, yoga was that familiar constant that would make me feel one with the person taking my class or practicing next to me, even when we were literally a world apart. Yoga transcends language, borders, and history. I strive to practice and teach it with the respect and humility that a borrowed culture deserves, and I hope to inspire others to do the same.
