Welcome to Your Practice: A Guide for Beginners

Every expert was once a beginner. Take a deep breath, step onto the mat, and let the movement do the rest.

Starting a new movement practice can feel a little intimidating, especially if you aren't sure what to expect. At Grounded Yoga and Movement, we specialize in creating a welcoming, zero-pressure environment for everyone who walks through our doors.

Whether you are looking to build strength, increase mobility, or simply find a moment of peace and stress relief, you belong here.

What to Expect When You Arrive

We focus on providing a seamless, hospitality-driven experience so you can leave your stress at the door and focus entirely on your practice.

  • The Environment: Our light-filled indoor sanctuary and outdoor deck offer a calming transition from your busy day.

  • The Equipment: There is no need to bring your own gear. We provide complimentary use of our state-of-the-art integrated grounding mats, natural cork mats, as well as all blocks, bolsters, straps, bands, weights, sliders, and everything you need for your class. If you test our mats and you decide to get your own, you can purchase one at the front desk.

  • The Cooldown: Every class concludes with our signature hospitality touches, including warm or cool essential oil-infused towels, custom aromatherapy, and immersive sound therapy to leave you completely refreshed.

How to Prepare

  • What to Wear: Choose comfortable, breathable clothing that allows you to move freely. No special footwear is required; our yoga and somatic classes are practiced barefoot. The use of socks is optional.

  • What to Bring: Just bring yourself and a water bottle! Because our studio is fully equipped, you don't need to worry about lugging a mat across town. If you do decide to bring your own mat, you’re welcome to store it at the studio.

  • When to Arrive: Plan to arrive about 10-15 minutes before your scheduled class. This gives you plenty of time to store your belongings, meet your instructor, and settle onto your mat without rushing.
